In the 30th issue of Vogue Scandinavia, the spotlight shines on the Swedish House Mafia. True legends of electronic music, the trio has conquered the world thanks to high-energy stadium anthems and an unmistakable late-night vibe. This summer, on the verge of releasing a new track in collaboration with Lykke Li and ready to take on Europe's most prestigious stages, the magazine met up with them in Stockholm, inside what they ironically call their "madhouse." The goal? To discover the new dimension they are exploring: light.
An Unexpected Headquarters
The group's Stockholm base instantly conjures up images of a dark concrete bunker hidden deep underground. The reality, however, is surprising: you find yourself on a gravel path near a lake, right in front of a 19th-century wooden countryside house that looks straight out of a fairy tale, painted bright yellow and adorned with the classic white carvings of Swedish tradition (snickarglädje). It is such a stark contrast that it makes you double-check the address just to be sure you are in the right place.
This is definitely not the headquarters you would expect from the deities of electro house.
Even those who might not remember the names Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello are undoubtedly familiar with their iconic aesthetic: three tattooed men, strictly dressed in black, towering over a DJ booth as if it were an altar, capable of commanding and moving entire stadium crowds.
