From the editor:
Since no dictatorship exists without dissidents, the same applies to watchmaking: we present to you HEIST-OUT.
HEIST-OUT a play on 'Iced Out' (referring to watches or jewelry fully set with diamonds) and 'Heist', is a new print magazine that offers a loud and clear counterpoint to the current watch industry. It is also a circle of friends who share the same convictions and similar tastes in horology, blending the noble with the avant-garde to show us a truly 'different' watchmaking world.
While HEIST-OUT brings together the same group of friends and journalists around various themes that we will explore later, we owe its existence to two protagonists: Maxime Couturier and Lorenzo Maillard.Long-time friends who worked together for several years at the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie in Geneva, they were eager to embark on a significant and far-reaching project. Above all, it was a 'cry from the heart' regarding an industry that, while still enchanting, is beginning to lose the originality of the past, giving way to a polished, uniform surface. If luxury saved watchmaking after the quartz crisis, it might also deal the death blow to the very thing that makes each brand unique.
