Dust is a biannual magazine founded in 2010 between Berlin and London and distributed worldwide. The project's intent is to explore the universe of youth within the context of a present time marked by a continuous state of crisis.
Our interest lies in illuminating the genuine and uncodified aspects of youth and the emerging new generation, directing our gaze away from institutionalized geographies and trends, and above the current standardization that tends to conform the experience of youth into regulated forms. In our research, we cross territories in conflict, where structures collapse and Western codes of appearance dissolve into different types of choices and dynamics.
We like to emphasize a silent geography at the margins of traditional paths, to rediscover a stronger attachment to life one that is somehow more vital, genuine, and awake; something difficult to find in the anesthetized youth presented by a disoriented mainstream culture. The territory we delve into is 'the crisis' as the chosen place to redraw forms, ideas, values, and strategies for our generation to embrace a different way of conceiving life.
We observe the collapse of global stabilities as an irreversible shift in the landscape that drives young people toward an urgency for change an urgency to find a new and accurate vision. Like many, we believe renewal is necessary in all fields, based on a more personal sensitivity. In light of our concerns and interests, the realms of communication, visual culture, art, and fashion must be reconsidered from a new point of view.
Our magazine is intent on creating this new vision within the limits of any cultural product on the market. We consider the magazine a laboratory of ideas and concepts through which we seek a new aesthetic and aim to give the image a new value. Our personal interests go beyond the idea of coolness, trends, waves, or anything established by pop culture. We prefer to direct our gaze toward the simple and genuine way through which youth expresses itself, the point from which everything should be reconsidered.

From the publisher: DUST Issue 29 - Overload
As screens, algorithms, and metrics have taken on the task of organising reality—making it difficult to distinguish visibility from value, immediacy from context—every image around us now competes with every other image, leaving us with an uncomfortable question: what are we supposed to be as an independent magazine? And who are we accountable to?
Brands? Algorithms? Audiences trained to scroll? What are we being asked to become? A cultural platform? A marketing tool? Or simply another content machine?
For this issue, we are granting every image—and every brand—the conditions it seeks: maximised visibility, circulation, engagement, and a claim on collective attention. Every page is a cover. Every image is released into circulation as a standalone event. The magazine’s traditional hierarchy disappears. Inside and outside become a single flat surface where images compete freely for momentum, attention, visibility, and relevance. Sound familiar?
This is how overload operates. Yet in understanding how reality is now organised, we are not questioning our existence. We are questioning the conditions through which that existence is understood.
We will do our best to accommodate your request, but availability depends on current stock. Thank you for your understanding! The covers for this issue are dedicated to Max by Sean & Seng and Lopez by Javier.
